Screen Overview

Modified on Sat, Oct 18 at 6:12 PM

This Documentation is updated for v6.9.

In this section, the default layout of the Logbook screen will be described so that the Operator is familiar with the application's layout. The configuration and use of these features will be described later.

We recognize that the image above is a bit large for a browser. We'll describe each section of Logbook separately.

Application Ribbon - This provides an easy way to change layouts, flip between Ham Radio Deluxe applications, Main and Sub band tuning sliders, Add Logbook Entry, databases Manager, and configuration. The ribbon will show the user's call and the main and sub band VFO readings.

Upper Left Pane - This has three functions. Lookup pane provides a quick way to invoke the callsign lookup function and get information based on what is in the operator's logbook or lookup source, details about the operator (by callsign), country information. It shows what Band and Modegroup you have worked this Callsign, Country, or IOTA before. Favorites is a quick way to access saved frequencies for quick band and mode changes. Radio Pane provides a quick way to access rig control features without flipping over to the Rig Control application.

Move between these three by clicking the tab at the bottom of the pane.

Lower Left Pane has two functions. The Audio Recorder - This gives the operator the ability to record audio from the radio's AF source. The Network Server shows the connection Logbook has made to the radio through HRD Rig Control.

The Upper Pane

Logbook - This pane gives the user the ability to view the recent contents of the log. Scroll down to see previous QSOs in the log. There are buttons along the time to enable you to add/remove QSOs, add/remove columns to the display, Find as a quick filter, manage backups, awards tracking, QSLing, and upload/download to LOTW.

The Lower Pane

30-Day Solar Data is displayed in the first tab. This data comes from NOAA.

Solar Cycle Progression is displayed in the second tab. This data comes from NOAA and can be modified to show any data since 1899.

Audio Monitor gives you the ability to view audio signals passing through your soundcard's audio source.

DX Cluster - This shows DX spotter information from the DX spotting network.

HRD Alert - This shows you the decodes received into your favorite FT8, FT4, etc software.

DX Histogram is a great way to see "where the action is." It displays a histogram of the last 2,000 DX spots you have received. [Feature is new in Ham Radio Deluxe® v6.0]

Grayline Map - This shows the grayline map, with regards to the operator's location. It can be changed to show Maidenhead squares (grids) or the great circle map.
Clock - This shows the current time.

Band Map - This shows all collected spots for a selected band across the band's frequency range.

Rotator can be displayed when there is a connection to a rotator via HRD Rotator Control.

Bottom Status Bar shows several important things. But the most helpful items are the most recent DX cluster announcement, WCY solar data, and WWV solar data.
